➗ SHENZHEN MATHS TEACHER MEET! ✖️
Sometimes the best professional development comes from simply getting great teachers together in the same room.
On 24 September at 6pm, we’re bringing together Maths educators from international schools across Shenzhen for an informal evening of conversation, collaboration and sharing.
The focus for the evening: Asking the Right Question
We’ll explore how effective questioning can be used at three key stages of mathematical learning:
🔹 Questioning to assess prior knowledge
Finding out what students already know, understand and can connect to.
🔹 Questioning to create cognitive dissonance — or a need for new Maths
Using carefully chosen questions to create curiosity, challenge existing thinking and give students a genuine reason to develop new mathematical ideas.
🔹 Questioning to co-create new knowledge
Using carefully sequenced questions to help students make connections, develop ideas and construct new mathematical understanding.
The aim is simple: share practical approaches, examples and experiences that we can take straight back into our classrooms.

No presentations. No agenda packed with PowerPoint slides. Just Maths teachers meeting Maths teachers, discussing Maths teaching and learning from each other.
If you’re a Maths teacher or Maths leader in Shenzhen, it would be great to see you there.
Please share this with Maths colleagues in Shenzhen who might like to join us.
Good teachers have answers. Great teachers keep asking questions.
