SUMMARY:Gao Jianfu: Works, Sketches, and the Making of Modern Chinese Painting
LOCATION:Guan Shanyue Art Museum
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition brings you face to face with Gao Jianfu through works, sketches, manuscripts and original copied materials spanning the late 19th century to the early 1950s. Step inside his process: his early training, his time in Japan, field sketches, social observation, teaching practice and his role in reshaping modern Chinese painting. The sketches and documents make his ideas come alive, revealing Chinese painting as something open, ever-changing and deeply connected to history, nature and society.
