On September 30th, we invite you for a night of sharing, connecting, and witnessing.
Any audience member is welcome to volunteer to share moments from your life. Then, performers will ” play back ” the emotional essence of what is shared — in movement, sound, words, and music.
The stories from the audience determine the content of the show and inspire us in our enactments.
Playback theatre is an original, interactive form of improvisational theatre. In response to stories and experiences from the audience, our performers and the musician make on-the-spot theatre. Every experience is ‘played back’ to the teller and the audience in an intuitive, artistic way. We do this empathically, respectfully, and without judgment.
Don’t be alarmed by the interactivity: no one is required to share anything and all is welcome.
This theme of this playback performance is ‘ Waking up ’.
Waking up is a constant experience. Every moment you live is an opportunity to lift your gaze, brighten your eyes, and see there is no reason that the next moment can’t be the best moment of your life. Recognize the raw sensation and how your body reacts. Just wake up.
It’s time to wake up
Wandering in a dream for a while
I find it more cozy to float in my own imagination
It’s time to wake up
Feeling my weight on the ground
Each step accelerates my heart rate 1% more
Just the right time to wake up
No more silence, no more semi-coma pleasure
Take a deep breath and now wake
Playback Theater is an improvised performance method that emerged in the United States in the late 1970s. Couch Potatoes Playback Theatre adheres to the principle of “let everyone speak for themselves”, and wants to create an open and non-judgmental dialogue space, so that everyone can explore themselves and others in stories, find resonance from similarities, and understand our differences.
