Verbier Festival Orchestra

The Verbier Festival Orchestra has always been regarded as one of the world’s top orchestras, and its members currently hold positions in various outstanding orchestras around the world . Among the world-renowned orchestras are the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Zurich Town Hall Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.

The Verbier Festival Orchestra is currently the resident orchestra of the Verbier Music Festival . The six concerts performed by the orchestra at the festival every summer are led by music director Gabor Takakos-Nagy, and Other outstanding conductors include Antonio Pappano, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Daniel Harding.

Soloists who often collaborate with the orchestra include Andres Schiff, Leonidas Kavakos, Joshua Bell, Pincus Zuckerman, Martha Argerich, Yuja Wang, Daniil Trifonov and Gautier Capuçon.

As the ambassador of the Verbier Music Festival, the orchestra brings exciting power to audiences in famous concert halls and music festivals around the world during its prestigious world tour.

The orchestra’s first recording was made in 2006 under the leadership of violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov, followed by a 22-concert tour in North America and Europe. Since then, the orchestra has regularly toured around the world, and since 2008 has spent a week in residence at the Elmo Palace in Bavaria every autumn.

Conductor: Gabor Takakos-Nagy

Gabor Takakos-Nagy was born in Budapest and is considered one of the most orthodox exponents of Hungarian music today. He was awarded the Liszt Prize in 1982 and the prestigious Béla Bartók-Dieu Prize in 2017. Tower Pastori Award . In March 2021, he received the “Outstanding Artist” Merit Award from the Hungarian government to artists who have long served Hungarian national culture ; in December 2021, he received the “Outstanding Artist” Merit Award reserved for artists, athletes and representatives of scientific life, culture and education. The Excellence Award recognizes outstanding performance and exemplary embodiment of qualities and values.

Piano: Alexander Malofeev

Violin: Mark Buchkov
