About SUMMER OF SOUL
The camera captured the faces of the people who had attended this festival together more than 50 years ago. Many years later, when they recalled having seen so many black people in one place celebrating black culture, they shed emotional tears.

SUMMER OF SOUL is a music documentary centered on the happenings of the epic event which celebrated black history, culture and fashion — in the summer of 1969, 100 miles south of Woodstock, the Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed by the Mount Morris Park during the course of six weeks. The footage was never made public and was forgotten until the release of the documentary.Among the legendary figures who appeared there on those days were Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly And The Family Stone, Gladys Knight And The Pips, Mahalia Jackson, BB King and The 5th Dimension.
