Jazz likes a free-flowing river, and no other genre of music can match it. In its 100-year history, as the continuous migration of people and the in-depth integration of humanities, jazz has become the most vital mobile symbol in music culture. But its integration towards the world has never stopped.
When jazz entered China, how did it really take root and popularize and localize it? Under the completely different bases of traditional Chinese musical instruments and Western musical instruments, how can they find their own style? The answers to all these questions have been explored and searched for by generations of Chinese jazz musicians. The main line of the story of the second season of Plan R, we will explore how Chinese musicians integrate traditional native instruments into jazz after jazz enter China along the way. The guest band of the first phase of Oriental Guest is the SEESAW Jazz Fusion led by Chinese keyboard musician Feng Wei. During the two-day performance, the audience will enjoy their original jazz repertoire with oriental color.

R STORY
The Jazz R Program is a high-standard performance brand that represents the professional level of jazz music and is planned and initiated by ROOTS MUSIC and FENNESSY. Project R will continue to plan performances for them seasons such as jazz specials, classical jazz, movie soundtracks under jazz, character tributes, and city impressions around the dimensions of jazz genre, history, and influence on the development of modern music.
Senior jazz musicians from home and abroad will be invited, and the high-standard performance lineup will portray a clear impression of the history of jazz development and a professional and excellent live jazz experience for the audience in every season.
In the future, we will take the stage in different scenes, stages and cities to explore all the possibilities of jazz, and we will strive to build a leading brand of jazz performance.

In 2004, Feng Wei graduated from Harbin University majoring in music. During school, he participated in the live recording of Heilongjiang TV Station’s “See You or Not” column as a live music arrangement, and participated in the recording of nearly 100 episodes, such as Sun Nan, Tong Tiexin, Zero Point, Yang Hongji, Luo Zhongxu, Ye Bei, Lun Hui, Lu Yi and Jin Haixin, and he has accumulated a rich on-site adaptability for show. Currently living in Beijing, he has been engaged in performance and teaching for many years

In 2008, he developed a strong interest in jazz and formed his own jazz band in Tianjin: Powerful Trio.
In 2010, he completed the “Swing 5” concert with Chester, a genius musician from Canada, at the Tianjin West Coast Art Museum.
In 2011, he completed the famous American singer Tami Andrews Tianjin concert.
In 2012, he completed the closing performance of the China International Flute Art Festival with Jim Walker, the American jazz master, at the Beijing Concert Hall.
In 2013, he participated in the Beijing Forest Big Band as a pianist.
In 2014, he participated in nearly 100 performances, as a member of the musical “Shanghai Bund”.
In 2015, he participated in the Beijing Opera and Dance Theater’s “Playing the Piano and Saying Love”.
In 2016, he participated in nearly 100 tour performances of the Oriental Song and Dance Troupe’s large-scale music festival “The Voice of the East”
In 2017, he participated in “LALALAND” movie soundtrack concert at Beijing Railway Station, Great Hall of the People, as pianist
In 2017, he participated in the micro-film “Jazz Boy” soundtrack interlude and ending theme
In 2017, he led his original fusion jazz band SEESAW Jazz Quartet to participate in the 10th “Heart and Sing” Music Festival in Egypt and performed on the same stage with delegations from more than 20 countries

He was admitted to the Beijing Modern Conservatory of Music and studied under the famous jazz musician Haha Shao. He also studies harmony, music arrangement and production, and has created abundant modern music works with distinctive personality, and he has collaborated with bands such as Jazz Cube Octet, Expression Bank, etc.

From 1998 to 2000, he graduated from Beijing Midi Music School, majoring in jazz and drums, under the tutelage of Izumi Koga Koga Izumi.
From 2002 to 2006, he entered the Department of Music of the Ministerio de Cultura Instituto Superior de Arte Cuba (Cuba Higher Academy of Arts) for further studies in the modern percussion and Cuban national percussion majors. The Cuban band Los Van Van played on the same stage and participated in many large-scale international cultural events such as the Santiago de Cuba City International Music Festival.
In 2006, he has participated in the Shanghai International Percussion Festival, the Shanghai International Jazz Festival, the Jiumen International Jazz Festival, and the Beijing International Drummer Festival and has been arranging and performing percussion for many large-scale music events and TV programs. Yaqiong Huang

Yaqiong graduated from the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, majoring in Erhu. He has set up a world folk music group and participated in cultural exchange activities in the embassies of Finland, Greece, Chile, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and other countries. She performed with the Central Chinese Orchestra, China Radio Chinese Orchestra, China Opera and Dance Theater, etc.
In 2016, participated in the UCCA Rauschenberg Art Exhibition and the Improvisation Workshop with the Lincoln Center Jazz Big Band and began to learn jazz.
In 2017, he joined the SEESAW Jazz Quartet. In the same year, he participated in the 10th International Soul and Singing Music Festival in Egypt as a Chinese delegation.
In 2018, he went to Crete, Greece for academic exchange, and was invited to give a special lecture and exchange performance on Erhu at the local music academy.
From 2018 to 2019, he was invited to be a guest erhu player of CUG JAZZ ORCHESTRA in Japan.
In 2020, she recorded the SEESAW’s first album “Dawn” .
In 2021, she will be active with the band in various jazz performances, music festivals and original band program recording, and start her own original music creation.

Willock Lee
Willock is a gifted jazz guitarist with extensive performance experience in various live houses in Beijing. He focuses on musical skills, flexible sound processing, and familiar with the preparation and performance of electro-acoustic instruments. Then he started to perform on stage in college and gained lots of awards and medals. Since 2015, he has cooperated with musicians from all over the world to perform jazz-based, pop, soul, R&B and other styles of music, showing the flexibility of the melody and the flow of feelings in the improvisation. The solo album “Blossom” was released in January 2019. The solo album “December” will be released in December 2021.

He is good at a variety of musical styles and has formed and participated in many different styles of bands. In 2008, he formed Los Amigos with friends. In the same year, he was invited to perform on the same stage with the two-time Grammy nominated band Ochun. He still participates in major music festivals and cooperates with artists.
In 2002, he formed the Motif Jazz Trio, and participated in the recording of the “Charm 12” program of CCTV Channel 12 for many times.
In 2003, he participated in the Beijing Modern Music Festival held in the Great Hall of the People, and graduated from the Beijing Modern Music Academy with honors in the same year.
In 2004, he has been a bass teacher in the Jazz School of Beijing Modern Conservatory of Music, and formed the Red & Blue Jazz Band in the same year.

In 2016, he participated in the Guinness World Records activities of Cui Jian Qianren Band, and joined the SEESAW band as bass in the same year.

In 2018, he went on a national tour with the cold rhythm band, was invited to participate in the Ali Music Center to give a special performance and broadcast live in VR, and joined the band 30 degrees north latitude to release the album in the same year
