About this Event

“Let’s go to the flea market! Exploring the Commonalities between Flea Markets and the Maker Spirit”

“Selling sausages at a flea market seems to be a gradually popular trend among engineers. Why, in the post-epidemic era, is the informal market quietly reviving, and why are young people from technology giants starting to sell goods on the street? I believe everyone has different perspectives and observations on this topic.

In this Abi monthly gathering, Helen will share her preliminary observations and sociological interpretations on the “informal marketspace”, and talk about her observation report on the “Ghost Market” in Huaqiangbei. She will also discuss whether the maker culture has some kind of coincidence with the flea market culture.

Each Abi member is also invited to sincerely share their recent projects. We will also discuss the feasibility and specific implementation plans for setting up stalls in Huaqiao City/Nantou Ancient City. Actions speak louder than words.

We look forward to having a relaxing connection with everyone in this atomized society.

Every member who comes to the gathering will have the opportunity to receive a flower bought from a stall on Tianqiao.”

Speaker: Helen, Ph.D. candidate in sociology.
